Time in ASL

In ASL Sentences, Time is written at the beginning of the sentence.

Time + Topic + Comment + Question (If there is a question)

TODAY, STORE I GO. -Today I'm going to the store.
                                                       __WH_
YESTERDAY, HOME YOU GO WHEN? - When did you go home yesterday?

Signs that are number-incorporated with time include:

  • 1-MONTH
  • 1-YEAR
  • 1-HOUR
  • 1-DAY
  • 1-MINUTE
Numbers 1-9 are incorporated into the sign.  As in, you will sign the number you need to sign to indicate the amount of time.  Example, 9 minutes, you will use the number 9 when signing MINUTE.  Any number above 9 must be signed first, then you sign with a number 1 when signing the time sign.

For numbers 1-9, you would sign that number when signing a number-incorporated sign.
For any numbers above 9, you sign the number, then 1 with the number-incorporated sign.

I apologize for the brief pause in the middle of my video.  My ring flew off!
