UPDATES: New Look, New Pages!

I've updated the old ASLFL black, grey and red look and changed it to black, white, grey and blue!  I think the new appearance gives it a fresh look.

More news, which is probably much more important to all of you, is that I've made new pages and updated the A Brief Page On Facial Expression page to include facial expression when marking the topic in a sentence.

The new pages include Role-Shifting, and Listing and Ranking/Birth Order.

Role-Shifting involves situations when you are discussing what you did for the day or for a day in the past, or what you have planned in the future.  It's also important when telling a story!

Listing and Ranking/Birth Order is important when discussing family, perhaps your children and the ages they are at the time, as well as when you want to list things.  In ASL, the word AND is not used.  So, you would not say, "I love dogs and cats and birds."  You would create a list using your hand, then list each one.

But, I don't believe I need to continue further on that in this post, because now you have a page to go to!  Good luck and thanks for your support!

New Updates to ASL For Life Pages

Hello, everyone!

Note that there have been updates to the ASL for Life pages, particularly Questions in ASL and ASL Format: How it is Signed and Written.  There have been changes and improvements made with inclusions of more information.

ASL is a constantly changing language.  Note that some signs may always become old in the videos, and new signs arise.  If a deaf or hard-of-hearing person shows you a new sign for something, be sure to use it and/or use that sign with that person due to their preferences!

Also, in case some of you may not know, ASLFL has a Facebook Group that you may ask for approval to join, and a YouTube Channel.  I appreciate any subscriptions to the channel or anyone who wants to join the group!

The YouTube Channel has all videos that are uploaded.  Subscribing is appreciated.

In the Facebook Group, there are videos and information about sign language, deaf culture, and more! There are questions and polls to test your knowledge, and documents about things such as ASL format as well as links to all the ASL videos I have on YouTube.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/AmericanSignLanguageForLife/  Is the group link, but all the information for this and the YouTube Channel is on the right side of the blog.

ASL For Life - Teaching a 2-Year Old Sign

In this video, I taught my 2-year-old niece a few signs.  She has been learning more and more signs and has been asking me to show her the signs for objects.
